Roosevelt University’s Jeremy Myers voted one of 12 great performers in Chicago theater

Roosevelt University CCPA alumnus Jeremy Myers has been cited as one of the twelve great performers in Chicago theater by Time Out Chicago for his performance in Pussy on the House. The play, a drag parody of the Tennessee Williams classic Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, was produced by Hell in a Handbag Productions and received a four-star review from Time Out critic Emily Gordon. She praised Myers’ performance, writing that he “channels Elizabeth Taylor in this delightful camp take on Tennessee Williams,” referencing the classic Hollywood film starring the late Taylor. Gordon goes on to write, “Myers… is astonishing; his slinky, cajoling Maggie transcends cross-dressing and approaches reincarnation.”

U of Cincinnati history prof and Roosevelt alumnus Mark A. Lause has new book on Civil War published

Professor Mark A. Lause (MA, ’77) of University of Cincinnati has just published his latest book, Price’s Lost Campaign: The 1864 Invasion of Missouri with University of Missouri Press. The book details Price’s Raid, the campaign led by General Sterling Price, that the Confederates undertook during the final months of the American Civil War.

According to Lause’s publishers, “In showing how both sides during Price’s Raid used self-serving fictions to provide a rationale for their politically motivated brutality and were unwilling to risk defeat, Lause reveals the underlying nature of the American Civil War as a modern war.”

Price’s Lost Campaign is now available in bookstores and online sellers.
